Anne Marie (Vassallo) McKinnon
Update (May '12): In July 2011, Dan and I had a little girl, Marianna, who attended her first NCAA
meet, in utero, when Oregon State hosted Regionals in April 2011. How could she
not be a fan? I now run a multi-state law practice in real estate, alcoholic
beverage law and sports law in the Washington DC area. I continue to judge NCAA
gymnastics meets and look forward to when I might again be assigned to judge a
meet with Amanda Turko.
Memories of OSU Gymnastics: My wonderful class, bonding at the Coast, funny eyes, Cliff, freshman board duty, Dick's Dogs: Gruff, Max, and Blue, Dick's stories (a universal memory!), kite flying at the coast, running to Woodstocks, sliced oranges, senior scrapbooks, biking all over Corvallis, morning lifting, our bus drivers, the Iwo Jima Memorial at 2 am in the snow, cold whirlpools, Pac-10s '94 & '96, Super Six '95 & '96, the '97 mystery, OSU summer camp, my West Coast family, our coaches, our trainers, our boosters, our fans and the fantastic people whom I am fortunate to call teammates!
Update (2010): In 2010, it finally happened: Amanda Turko and I coincidentally were both assigned to judge an NCAA meet in Nebraska. We enjoyed meeting up in the middle of the country. On a personal note, I married Dan McKinnon in 2009 in Washington, DC and we now reside in the DC metro area.
Update (August '06): After graduation, I went to Costa Rica to work in an affordable housing organization. Upon returning, I worked on the City of Corvallis' Riverfront Redevelopment project before moving "home" to New Jersey to go to law school and graduate school. I then clerked for two judges and now work as a land use attorney at the law firm of Shulman Rogers in Rockville, Maryland.
I'm now a level 10 gymnastics judge, having been inspired by Amanda Turko with whom I hope someday to judge a meet!
